LAB Project Licensing
If your program is not an Open Source Program or it it a Commercial Program or you think one of the 3 other choices:
LAB Public License, Q Public License (Annotation), GNU General Public License
do not fit your needs, and you want to use LAB Libraries or Modules in your program, or you want to include a full fledged LAB Based Applications in your programs, you must apply for LAB Commercial License.
Our other license schemes forces you to redistribute your source with your program and to allow recipients to redistribute your programs.
If this does not fit your goals, the commercial license gives you the following rights:
- Build commercial software you can resell and distribute without their source.
- Build software that is not sold, but that advances the business goals of a commercial enterprise. While this could be covered by another scheme, we think you do not want to distribute a piece of sofware internally used to gain money and let competitors use it. It is fair business to contribute to development goals by a license fee.
- For inclusion in your projects of a Full Fledged LAB Application, a one time license fee on a per application basis is due. This entitles you to embed LAB Applications in your own projects, modify and extend those to fit your needs and redistribute the modified or unmodified application.
We can emphasize main qualities of the LAB Commercial License:
- It is a development license. Resulting applications do not have to apply for royalties, you have no runtime license nor any additional costs.
- It is a per-developer license. It is an individually assigned license in a development pool. License maybe transferred, but only every six months and within the same organization. To transfer a license, contact labsupport@free.fr or the commercial team of one of our business partners.
- Embedding of full fledged LAB Modules or Applications is a one time fee. You're entitled to use and resell current and future releases of the Module or Application without to have to apply for another fee.
Basically, the same as our Open Sourced versions. Before applying for a Commercial License, we encourage you to download the Open Source version and try it. When you are sure it gives you what you can wait from such a package, you apply for the license.
The only difference between Open Source and Commercial license is the later entitles you with some more modules not bundled with Open Source version due to licensing schemes.
